New National Education Policy 2020 Recommended by Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturirangan. This draft committee made a New National Education policy with a lot of changes in existing Education policy.
Highlights of New National Education Policy (NEP) 2020:
- Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry renamed as Education Ministry.
- Education System of 10+2 is now replaced with system of 5+3+3+4.
- (I) Foundation Stage(5): The First 5 Years of Pre-Nursery (PNC), Nursery(NC), KG, Class-1, Class-2. In this stage children Learn by activity and though games. So,this is also called as Activity based Learning stage.
(II) Preparatory Stage(3): Next 3 Years- from Classes 3 to 5. In this stage Learn through play, discovery, interactive Classroom.
(III) Middle Stage(3): Next 3 Years- from Classes 6 to 8. In this stage students learn skill development Programs, experimental Learning in science, mathematics,arts, social science and humanities.
(IV) Secondary Stage(4): later 4 Years- from Classes 9 to 12. In this stage Learn through analytical approach, multidisciplinary study,greater critical thinking, flexibility, student choice based subject. - The Government ( Centre & State) Spending on education is increased from 1.6% to 6% of GDP.
- A single regulator Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) for all higher education institutions (excluded Legal & Medical Education) under Multidisciplinary Education & Research Universities (MERUs).
- 360° Progress Card will be given, on performance of Academic, Practical & co-curricular Activities (skills and Capabilities) on equally distributed.
- Flexibility of subjects for students.
- There will lie no difference between private and government education.
- Promotion of Digital Education.
- MPhil would be discontinued.
